It has been a long week, in more ways than one. But, I survived it all, and am awake early even, as I finally caught up on my sleep.
The last time I updated, was Tuesday last week, and in that time, my sister got married, she had a big party, I drank a lot of champagne, I saw a lot of my family, I wore some new clothes, I posed for pictures, I ate some outstanding food, I got a new phone, I fought with my mom, I took my mom to the doctor, and my room looks like a clothes bomb exploded in it.
First up, my Dad came into town for Charlotte’s wedding and bought me a new phone:
It is lovely, I took pictures of plum blossoms yesterday with it:
But, more importantly my sister got married. On Friday I wore my new dress (very proper dress) and went to the courthouse in Decatur and watched Charlotte and Mike get married. My Uncle Gerald, Aunt Linda, my Mom, my Cousin Meagan, Mike’s parents: Larry and Norika, his sister Cathy and her husband Jay, my Dad and wife Sian and my stepsister Riannon, and mdaniel were all there. It was raining lightly so they got married in the gazebo next to the courthouse. It was very a short ceremony. Marvin took pictures, and I have video thanks to mdaniel, as I was too keyed up to concentrate. Afterwards we all went off to the Intercontinental Hotel in Buckhead for a champagne tea.
The “tea” was fun, we drunk a fair amount of champagne and Charlotte opened some gifts. We ate little finger food, not much. We then all raced around to get ready to be at Canoe , for 7:30 dinner. I got to change into something more me! We all made it and had drinks at the river, then went into the wine room for a private dinner. The food was spectacular, I thought as was the wine….mmmmmm. It was a set menu, and I knew the choices before hand, as I had spent several evenings discussing it with Charlotte, but still it was exciting to finally see it all come together. The service was great.
Dinner was:
- Canoe’s House Smoked Salmon
crispy yukon gold potato pancake, vermont goat cheese - Sage Roasted Pheasant
brown butter sweet potatoes, crispy pheasant croquettes, huckleberry sauce - Grilled New York Strip
turnip, potato and goat’s cheese gratin, arugula, red onion compote - Valrhona Chocolate Souffle Cake
(warm goat cheese center, sweet lemon ice cream) - Toasted Caramel Brulee
(cashew butterscotch cookies)

More presents for Charlotte and then finally home to collapse.
