It has been a long and painful week, and finally it is Thursday. Woohoo! let me start at the beginning, rolling back the clock to last week, Monday morning when I awoke in agonizing pain. Screaming, unable to move pain. I remembered my dream pretty clearly, that of being laced into a blue leather corset all wrong, my shoulder all squeezed against my neck and my other shoulder wrapped in on my chest, and now I was in pain. I eventually got out of bed and straighted out and managed to go to work. All through the day the pain lessened and eventually I went to work out that night, and felt ok.
Tuesday the pain was back! It felt like my back was all out of joint and my ribs were digging into the bottom of my lungs, but by the end of the day, I felt ok enough to go swimming. After swimming I went by Whole Foods and saw Milton and ate dinner – mmm, salmon and couscous.
Wednesday the pain was back, so I phoned my chiropractor and went in to see him. Nothing he could move or click, though I did get my normal: “you are so tense, you should relax some, your back feels like a board.” went home and my bar-b-que was canceled as my sister had other plans, and mdaniel had a meeting. I still cooked though and went to bed.
Thursday was finally some pain relief and a not too bad day, I could bend and pick up things again. After work I went to see my wonderful wax lady and then I battled heinous traffic, fought the parking demons and went to Midtown Promenade to go see The Proposition. I forgot it was Screen On The Green and it was tough. I did find my parking and then found out the movie was not playing that night. Crushed I went to the Highlander, drunk some Vodka, ate some potato skins and luckily teka kept me company as I watched cars get booted.
Friday was a rush day – insert the Smiths “a rush and a push” – I dropped my car off at the dealer for its 90 000 mile service and to have the air-conditioning checked for its lack of cold air, then to the allergy Doctor. the allergy Doctor had good news though, no more Advair! And a new cream to help with localized itching. Then off to get a lovely Hot Stone Massage. So relaxing…..bliss. Then home to make strawberry ice-cream, then out to rescue a stranded Milton, then home to get said ice-cream, then off to OTP. So far out I am sure the maps say ‘here be dragons’. It was to mdaniel‘s ex boss who was trying to recruit him, the food was good, and the conversation funny. I really liked how he assumed I want tomarry and havemdaniel‘s children, and live OTP…hmmmm.
Saturday was ok, lovely bruch with tinkerboo and her new beau, got my car back, with working air-conditioning and purring, home, with brief stop at Book Nook, and then 4 -6 loads of laundry, some reading and then fun cooking. I made honey and red chili marinated salmon with a mock risotto. Yummy, and strawberry ice cream for desert.
Sunday was long. Pain again, and work was just long. Then another OTP outing to see the possible new work place, and dinner at a Hibachi Restaurant with a grumpy pumpkin face. Dinner was good, though a little surreal. Home to sleep off the strange drink (do not drink lime flavoured sake..)
Monday was incredible pain. Agonizing pain. I called chiropractor again, and was going to see him in the evening, so I left work early, and then no luck, a terrible mis-communication about time, I went home and was useless. I eventually took an oxycontin(sp) which did not dent the pain, but I was able to doze through out the night.
Tuesday I could barely move and eventually went to work and, got an appointment with the chiropractor across the street from me. I went in and she moved all my ribs, and wrist and neck. I felt some relief and went back to work dum dum dum.
I was then filing records when Harry (one of the owners) came over to tell me, that one of the homeless men had tipped him off, that a customer was shoplifting. So I went over and asked the guy for his bag. He gave me an empty bag, but would not give me his backpack. I asked again, and then asked if I could check his bag, he said no, and bolted for the door. I bolted too, and chased him, through the parking lot, up Seminole and down to the church where he jumped a fence. Luckily Danny the other owner followed me, and the nice guy at the Tavern drove passed and followed the guy in his car calling the police and driving around to catch the guy. Danny went back to the store, and I kept jogging/walking on to try find where the guy went and see if he dropped his bag. The cops came by, got a description from me, and eventually the Tavern guy took me back to work. It was pure excitement at work, .. a bunch of grumpy people and hot, then the cops stopped outside the store, they caught the guy! The Officer said the guy was one of the fastest guys he had ever chased and run down!
So on my high, I went home, changed and went to see Echo and the Bunnymen, me and teka had a fantastic time. Echo was awesome, amazing song choices, amazing voice and just wonderful. I cried (a smidgen) and teka cried more. Then home to sleep.
I awoke Wednesday unable to turn over in bed, or even sit up. I could not wash my hair, or put shoes on without a huge effort and massive spasms of pain. I suppose running after the thief had definitely ripped my body up, and screwed up all the good chiropractor work from the day before. So I hobbled back to the Chiropractor, then to work, then to Chiropractor again as she would not do too much work on me at once, then to court, where the case did not come up, then home.
Thank goodness teka bought me dinner on the couch, and fed the cats, as I could not. I cried all last night in pain, and slept elevated by pillows so as not to lie flat – it hurts to much – and to keep me all in one place – no moving while sleeping. This morning I woke up feeling slightly better, though still can’t dry my hair, or bend over, but off to work, and finally actual court!
Luckily Milton came by the store and drove me to court, as it hurts so much to drive, and the guy got a fine and time in jail – $157, and 7days and I got to issue a criminal trespassing warning.
That is my week! oeuf all out of breathe and exhausted. I left out the annoying customer, the downed power line, the moving out of Greg, the abandoned dog, my seeing of planet_amy, the new remastered Chapterhouse CD, the new Johnny Cash CD, and much else.
