So, Saturday night, after a brief rest it was time to get dressed and go to dinner – or rather “dinnah” as they say here – at a very nice greek fusion place called Civic. It was really fun and interesting, I had the Duck Confit Sour Cherry Pie, it was a starter, but plenty for me. The service was really odd, the waiter was really friendly, almost like he was completely wasted, but very forgetful, though mdaniel told me that was normal in Australia. Home after that, though a quick look round the Korean Quikie Mart first, and bed.
Sunday I woke up very early! And managed to persuade mdaniel to get up and we caught the bus down to Circular Quay and had breakfast at a little cafe. Then walked to the Opera House. I had read there was a small craft market on Sundays, and that there was, but very small, and I did not see anything exciting. We then walked all around the Opera House, admired the bridge, and I took a ton of photos.
I then wanted to walk a round The Royal Botanical Gardens, and it was pretty impressive. My favourite two sightings were the Flying Foxes, which were very active and huge, and the incredible bird life – including Cockatoos. We then walked through Hyde Park where World Youth Day is going to be held, and officiated by the Pope.
We then walked up through Pitts Street, stopping to look for a coat for mdaniel and shoes for me. We did manage to find mdaniel a nice light coat, but no shoes for me :(. After grabbing lunch, and a rough guide to Australia so we could find out about Great Barrier Reef/Cairns and the Northern Territory, we made it back to the apartment. I then phoned my cousin in Melbourne and made plans to go there Tuesday.
Dinnah was had at Darling Harbour and I got to try Date Pudding.
