Yesterday was one of those long days at work, though, after work the fun started!
First off I went to see Wayne at Technical Art and i now have dark green/black hair, which is so fun. It looks black, till it catches the light, then the green shows up. Next was down to find parking and meet up with tinkerboo and her man and pick up my badge. The most amazing thing happened. I found a cool parking spot on the street and I parallel parked perfectly all on my own, I was so chuffed.
I found tinkerboo and her man, or rather they found me. And we went off to get my badge and they waited in line with me, it was really nice of them, as it was hot down in the lairs of the Hyatt. But, got badge and then home to sleep and prep myself for today.
Today did not start of great really. The first email I got was from my Dad saying that the Doctor in SA had looked at my MRI and C/T scan and an operation was the way to go. I don’t really know what I expected, but from the way the email upset me, I was really hoping for no operation. I did some errands, picked up some red bull and went to CON! Which when I got there my Dad called to make sure I got the email, and chat about how soon, or rather when I should schedule a trip home and start the process off. The whole call left me a little shell-shocked, so I had to have a quick shot of vodka, then wander around.
To my infinite joy I once again got tinkerboo into a corset and this time she bought it! She looks so cute in it :P. I managed to find the Comic Walk and meet Andy Runton – Owly’s creator, and get him to sign my book. Then I blew a bunch of money on graphic novels: Hero – Yoshitaka Amano, My Homecoming – Ray Bradbury illustrated by Dave McKean, Postcards from Barcelona – Dave McKean, Stardust – Neil Gaiman and Charles Vess, The Book of Ballads – Charles Vess.
After all that I needed a break and sat outside the Marriot just watching the people come and go, eventually I realized how hungry I was, wandered into the Hyatt, saw some people I knew, was a little distracted – maybe? – and decided home and food was in order. I stopped at the Flat Iron on the way home, had a lovely burger and a huge glass of water and now home to change and primp for the next round.
