I sort of feel like a football, lots of being thrown about back and forth this weekend. Friday started nice and early with a visit to the gynecologist. Then after almost two months of soul searching I went and joined Sam’s Club. I get a free membership because of work, but still, I felt weird going in as I disagree with so many of their business practices. But, I got my card, and then walked around. I have never seen so much stuff! I bought three things: a book (Snow Flower And The Secret Fan), a sweater and compact florescent light bulbs. It was odd.
Next up on my day was Book Nook, and I even found a book (The Historian) there I have been wanting to read and some 12″s. Then over to Whole Foods to finally eat and see Milton. Then I think I drove home, I have a gap in my memory there. Later that night mdaniel and I went to the Highlander, to celebrate Greg’s birthday. The best part was running into iknowiona and squealing. It was ok, and it feels funny thinking of Greg as 40, he is eternally 25 in my head.
Saturday was another early day – don’t know why – but up and off to meet Charlotte and Mike for a bite to eat, and look at the house they were going to see. Then back to Sam’s Club as I had not even covered half, and as mdaniel was with me, I could actually get some stuff and carry it. This time, I was more practical: toilet paper, juice, body wash and chocolate milk. Then off to Filines Basement for more sunglasses. And also to Staples for labels for Charlotte.
Finally some lunch and then to get the labels made – oops, we had the wrong size. So back to Staples and back to make the labels. Eventually we got to Joe’s Coffee House at about five o’clock. We met Charlotte and proceeded to put wedding invites together, and stick labels on!
Then I rushed home to change and go meet my co-worker up for Yo La Tengo. I felt bad as I was running about 10 minutes late, but when we got to the show all was good, as they had not started yet. She vanished with her boy, and I took up my favourite game at Variety Playhouse, people watching. I saw a lot of people I knew and even said hi on occasion. I saw about an hour of Yo La Tengo, but I was not wowed. I felt they played to many long rambling songs, and in the end they were just ok. But, I was glad I saw them.
Today was finally sleep late, and then work. And now everything is quiet – I am sure football is going on somewhere, but not here.
