I need to keep a regular diary of this stuff as it is starting to go so fast, it is scary. Today I went and got an MRI. It was very new and scary and painful. First off it was out in East Cobb County at 9:15 and next it was all new and an awful lot of lying very still.
What happens is you sign about 10 forms, and then remove all your metal from your body and then have two yellow little things taped to you, I assume to help measure off where to image. Then you lie on table, then they move you a bit, then you hands go over your head and a half tube is put over your body and you are told to remain very still. You slide underneath a board and noises start. I remained still for 45 minutes!!!!
When the lady came back in the room I was so worried it had only been 10 minutes and I would go stark raving mad. But, it had been 45 or so. Then she tried to inject me with gadolinium, hahaha. I have small veins, hard to find veins, and that went badly. My left arm was just not cooperative and eventually she used the right arm. I cannot straighten my arm right now, it hurt so bad, but the stuff went in and back I went for more clanging noises.
Eventually it was over, an hour and a half later. I got my CD of the procedure and went off. I felt pretty funny, all woozy and sore, I bled all over the MRI table as once she got the needle in, it was wiggled about a bunch.
Then I got the call from the Dr. It was the 2nd Dr I had seen, one of the ones who said it was muscle spasms. Now he sounded nice. He told me I have a partially herniated disc in my upper spine, and I need to see a neurosurgeon. He then paused, and said: “are you ok, in any pain? Do you have any shooting pain, can you move ok?” This was the one thing that made me nervous as this was the Dr that was so quick to give me muscle relaxants, and now he was concerned. I said I was fine, a little sore and would go in tomorrow to consult with the Dr I am actually seeing and evaluate my options.
It was very tiring and then, I went to work, but no gym :(, as I feel I should be careful and I cannot move my arm without pain yet.
