Shrove Tuesday – otherwise known as pancake day:
- 2 Cups of Sifted Flour
- 2 Cups of milk
- 2 Eggs
- !/4 Cup Sugar
- 1 Teaspoon Vanilla Essence
- Pinch of Salt
Place flour, sugar, salt in a bowl. Make a well add the eggs and milk. Mix well. The batter should be runny, if needed add more milk – a little at a time.
Heat a pan to medium heat, swipe with butter – and pour in about a ladle full of batter, swirling it so it coats the pan evenly. When the edges are done and little bubbles appear, lift the pancake and cook the other side. Then toss and serve.

Roasted banannas and whiskey:
heat oven to 450 degrees. peel and quarter bananas (slice in half lengthwise, and then slice in the center of the curve.) place bananas in a single layer on a cookie sheet or other shallow baking dish. Sprinkle liberally with cinnamon, sugar. place pats of butter evenly over bananas, and several shots of whiskey, rum or brandy. Place in oven and roast for 10 minutes.
