So last night I came home, at a brief snack and rushed off to meet my sister and our friend Alan out for sushi. I ate the snack as I did not want to hoover up all the sushis in sight….I am still not fond of Ru-Sans, though. The food was ok, the company was excellent though. It has been almost 6 months since Alan was last in town, he lives in Brazil, teaching English as a second language, and is a wonderful person. After Ru-Sans it was off to Apres Diem for cake and coffee and more laughing.
Then home, to a big storm, I thought my house was going to float away, but instead the power went off at 3:30 this morning and did not come back on till this evening – aargh! I had cooked all Saturday night, so I would have food for the week and lunches, I was worried all day, but things seemed to be fine.
I also was saddened to read about the gentleman from Manufacture pulling a knife and then getting severely beaten in Tampa. I have seen several posts and stories tonight all about it, and I have one or two thoughts on the situation. First up, no-one should pull a knife at a club and expect to get off light, it is too dangerous, and even if provoked, no matter what you should never threaten any one! Then no-one deserves to be beaten so badly that they need stiches, staples and extensive ER treatment, a bouncer should be able to disarm a drunk, raging irate customer, without putting him in hospital.
I am sorry that the Manufacture gentleman is in hospital, but pulling a knife is supremely stupid! And threatening people. I am sorry the bouncer was not able to disarm him and had to resort to severe violence and even – as it sounds – let his rage get the better of him. This all sounds like a horrible nightmare for everyone concerned, the club, the people saying he said, I saw etc, the people who will be nervous about going out, the ‘scene’, more touring bands etc.
I am waiting for my rain tonight – my basement needs it…and hopefully some restful sleep.
