Tomorrow is my father’s birthday! Wow, I feel so lucky that he is alive and there for me. So many of my friends have lost their parents or have unhappy or absent relationships with their fathers. My Dad is not perfect – not by any means.
He survived a bad bout with cancer this year, a scary misdiagnose, and then having a colostomy, and now he is doing great. He is building a house in South Africa and one in Kenya (actually 2 in Kenya but, one is temporary) and rebuilding a house in France and he got married again ( 4 and counting)! He is living his life fully and that makes me so happy.
Driving today I heard one of my favorite songs, Haunted by Love and Rockets! A band I loved that made me read the Love and Rockets comic, who the writers really disliked Love and Rockets “that english band“, and then the upshot of all this is then I read One Hundred Years of Solitude by Gabriel Garcia Marquez. A book that I still think about. And a book that celebrates life’s fullness and experience.
I also want to mention the orange T people with paw-prints have taken over the highway! It must be football?
